Free for Craft CMS 5
Jane may edit these three entries. Not the whole section.
Craft's content permissions stop at the container: a section, a category group, a volume. Seclude carries them the rest of the way down, to the individual element — and it can only ever take access away, never give it.
Narrower than a section
A user still needs Craft's own permission for the section. Seclude decides how much of it that permission reaches.
Craft Jane → News ──────────────────────────► all 2,400 entries
Seclude Jane → News → entries she authored,
entries in her region,
and three picked by hand ► 31 entries
Features
One verdict behind every edit page, index, picker and move, so they can never disagree.
It can only take away
Every decision is refuse or no opinion, never permit. Switching Seclude on can't widen anybody's access, and a policy you haven't written yet governs nothing.
- Safe to install on a live site
- Admins are left alone unless you say otherwise
Rules that scale
Hand-pick a few pages, or let a rule do it: entries they authored, entries whose Region matches their own, anything matching a Craft condition, or a whole structure branch.
- Shared relations give you multi-tenancy in two dropdowns
- New content reaches the right people with nobody touching the plugin
Propose, don't publish
Six abilities — view, edit, create, delete, duplicate and propose changes. Give a contributor propose without edit and they can draft anything they're granted while somebody else publishes it.
Titles stay private
Refused elements are filtered out of indexes, counts, exports and relation-field pickers — not just locked when someone clicks them.
Who can edit what
Pick a user and an element and see every ability, every policy that applied, every one that didn't and why, and which grant matched. In the CP and from the console.
Delegation without admin
A department head can hand out work without being an admin — but only elements they could do everything with themselves, and never to themselves.
Seclude in the control panel
Real screens from a Craft 5 install — the filtered index a secluded editor sees, policies, the explain report and hand-picked assignments.
Screenshots from a live install, not mockups.
Frequently Asked Questions
The questions worth answering before you install it.
Yes. There is one edition and nothing is held back.
No, and it is built so it can't. Every decision Seclude makes is refuse or no opinion, never permit. A user still needs Craft's own permission for a section; Seclude only narrows how much of it they reach.
An entry type is still a container — every entry of that type, or none. Seclude goes down to the individual entry: these three News entries, the entries in her region, or the ones she wrote.
Yes. trendyminds/isolate was Craft 3/4 only and was retired in February 2024. Seclude covers per-entry assignment with a filtered index, and adds rules so you don't have to hand-assign everything.
No. Indexes, counts, exports and relation-field pickers are filtered, so a refused entry's title doesn't appear in them.
Admins aren't restricted by default, and php craft seclude/policies/panic switches every policy off from the console.

Narrow it down to the entry
Free, single edition. Install it on a live site — nothing changes until you write a policy.
